NEXT MEETING - BRS PROGRAM ON FEBRUARY 25TH AT 7 PM. SUBJECT: TOOLS, TOOLS, TOOLS
The definition of a tool is a device or implement, especially one held in the hand, used to carry out a particular function. In our “world” that means pruners this time of year. In order to get the best use of our pruners, loppers and saws, we have invited Robert Fanno of Fanno Saw Works to help us with the various tools of the trade.
Robert Fanno is the third generation of the Fanno family to run Fanno Saw Works, a tool manufacturing company in Chico. His grandfather started the business in 1920 and the logo, developed by Robert’s father, is a registered trademark. Robert will talk to us about the selection, including pros and cons, of different types of pruners and saws, their care and their cleaning. I’m sure he has heard about people who leave their tools out overnight (or longer) or used them for digging (but we wouldn’t do that, would we?).
In addition to our speaker, Robert, we are going to have a little tool show, think “Tool Time”. Several members are going to bring their favorite tool (any tool, as long as it fits in the door) and tell us a bit about it. If you would like to join in, just call me at 530-514-4857 (so we don’t have any duplicates). If you would like Robert to comment on your pruners, loppers or saws, please feel free to bring those too. He might get a kick out of seeing something really different, but he has probably seen it all.
As an added bonus, Robert has volunteered to take your dull pruners or loppers back to his shop for sharpening for only $3.95 each. All you need to do is pick them up when they’re ready. If they need fixing, he can do that as well. He will tag your equipment at the meeting, so you don’t need to worry about your equipment getting mixed up with someone else’s.
For more information regarding any of the scheduled events, please contact: Jean Miller, Program Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org
If you want to be a part of our friendly group, our yearly dues are only $25 and $5 for any additional member of that household. See our Application on this website for registration.
